Taking direction from seaweed and washed up bits of rope and plastic that are strewn across the sand on the shipwreck coast, this quilt playfully reflects the sun bleached tones of sea-tossed miscellany. It sat unfinished for three years before I picked it up and considered it with a new perspective, threaded my needle and started tying.
This quilt is stitched using an improvisational patchwork technique using strip quilts as influence. Vintage bedsheets and quilting cotton make up the top, and the quilt is hand tied with bamboo and wool yarn.
The quilt is best suited to use as a lap quilt or playmat, measuring approximately 1.5m x1.5m. It would also be wonderful as a wall hanging.
